What have we done in previous years?
Throughout the year we partake in many activities that help the local community. We make it our mission to help out those in need, and also helping the environment with some initiatives. These are just a few of our annual fundraising events:
01
Rallython
22nd April 2023
Rallython 2023 → The Tennis Club is thrilled to demonstrate its unequivocal support for charitable causes through our largest annual fundraiser, Rallython 2023! Our dedicated members will play nonstop for 24 hours to raise funds for Lifeshare, a homeless charity. Building on our previous success, in which we raised over £1000 for the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital, we have pledged to match donations up to £1500 this year, with a goal of raising a minimum of £3000 for this worthy cause. We have arranged free energy drinks and snacks and bread for our members as well to provide them with supplements throughout the event.

24h Run against Homelessness
16th November 2022
MCR 24 hour run against homelessness (participated with RunWild who were the organizer) → Over 30 members of our club took part in the MCR 24-hour run against homelessness, which was organised by RunWild. Our combined efforts resulted in a substantial sum of £150+ raised for the fundraiser, which will go a long way towards supporting the cause of homelessness. This event provided us with an opportunity to not only contribute to society, but also to demonstrate our solidarity and teamwork.
03
Movember
27th November 2022
Tennis x Dodgeball Movember → The Tennis club organised a highly successful fundraising event, the Tennis x Dodgeball Movember, in collaboration with the Dodgeball club. We organised a thrilling dodgeball tournament and collected donations through cash buckets with the help of over 40 enthusiastic individuals. Throughout the tournament, we raised an impressive total of £120+ (Tennis
contributed £70+). The event provided an excellent opportunity not only to raise funds, but also to raise awareness about men's mental health and other stigmas. We are proud to have made a significant contribution to this important cause, and the event's success demonstrates our commitment to giving back to society. In addition
to the Tennis x Dodgeball Movember, the Tennis Club raised a total of £924 as part of the UoM Campaign for the entire Movember Challenge. While we finished sixth overall, we were ecstatic to take first place in mixed gender sports. Anton Myachin, one of our exceptional fundraisers of 2022, finished third in individual fundraising with an impressive £510 raised.
04
12 Days of Christmas
9th December 2022
12 Days of Giving (Christmas) → During the christmas season, the Tennis Club actively participated in the 12 Days of Giving initiative, demonstrating our commitment to giving back to the community. We held a poll on the first day and
donated £115 to the Charity for the Homeless and £50 to Manchester Mind. This was a thoughtful gesture towards those in need, especially at a time of peak energy
crisis, and we are proud to have made a difference in the lives of the charities' beneficiaries. We also wrote letters to sick children, cleaned our club's storage area, donated 150 cans of balls for recycling, 200+ tennis balls to Dogs Shelter UK, and a few items to a clothing donation station.
05
Purple Wave
21st May 2023
Purple Wave 2023 supports Manchester’s Cancer Research → The Tennis Club has partnered with the Purple Wave 2023 initiative to support Manchester Cancer Research, demonstrating our dedication to making a difference in the fight against cancer. One of our esteemed committee members, in collaboration with a teammate, has already raised an impressive £130 for this worthy cause. We have received a great deal of interest from our members in just one day of launching the fundraising page, with 13 of them already participating in the event. We are confident that we will be able to raise at least £150 with the help of our members and the wider community throughout the fundraising campaign.
06
Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal
6th February 2023
SU Turkey-Syria Earthquake Appeal → This fundraiser has not yet begun, but it has been approved by UoM Sport and is nearing completion. The Tennis Club has created a Just Giving page with a goal of raising £100 or more. The fundraiser is a
noble way to raise funds for the charity, which has volunteers and workers on the ground in Turkey and Syria assisting those affected by the recent 7.8 magnitude earthquake.
07
UoM Tennis Summer Ball
5th May 2023
UoM Tennis Summer Ball → The Tennis Club is proud to host our annual Summer Ball, a time to celebrate our accomplishments and unite for a good cause. This year, during the event, we will hold a raffle to benefit Manchester Mind, an organisation dedicated to promoting mental health and well-being in our community. We are
confident that with exciting raffle prizes and the support of our members, we will be able to raise £500+ and make a significant difference in the lives of those in need.
